Things You’ll Most Likely (But Shouldn’t) Forget To Pack

Everyone has those “necessity” items that you think you couldn’t last a trip without. Then, there are the other necessities that sometimes we just can’t seem to remember. A couple of weeks ago we posted an info graphic, which explains how to successfully pack for a vacation. Here, we have composed a list of 10 items that you most likely will forget to pack before heading to the airport. Hopefully this list will serve you with a small reminder before taking off for your flight.
Copies of travel documents
This is included as the number 1 item(s) for this list because it is surely the most important, and is essential to have packed before leaving the house. Having a copy of travel documents such as your passport, driver’s license, reservations, plane tickets or Visas (if you need one). It’s also always smart to have a passport cover, folder for documents or luggage tag that has your name and contact information on it. These items are especially important to keep track of your items while you’re going through the craziness of the airport. They also might be required for various excursions or forms of transportation while on your trip.

Prescriptions
Prescriptions are listed as the second item because it requires thought and action before leaving (and packing) for your trip. It is always important to have copies of your prescriptions while traveling for long periods of time, even if you think you might not need them. You ever know if you might have an allergic reaction or come down with a sudden illness wile vacationing, so it’s always good to be prepared.
Pre-paid cell phone/SIM card
Getting a pre-paid cell phone or SIM card before taking a vacation is not something that people always think of. This might be necessary when traveling to a country that doesn’t accept American phone service. Though some people prefer to keep their phone on Airplane Mode and use WiFi whenever it’s available, it’s always good to be safe instead of sorry!
Snack (granola bars)
Always having snacks on hand while vacationing is perfect for the busy travelers. Having a box of granola bars, trail mix or pretzels is essential for the grab-and-goers. You can buy boxes of snacks from the supermarket and put them in the bottom of your suitcase so you won’t have to go shopping when you get to your destination. Plus, this might save you a few extra bucks!
Headphones/phone chargers/adapters
Nothing’s worse than sitting through an entire plane ride while having the person next to you snoring annoyingly loud. Having your headphones handy for the plane ride is essential for listening to music, as well as catching up on some movies or television shows. So in order to avoid the pre-vacation headache, remember your headphones! You will also be thankful if you’re going on a vacation where you want to listen to music to relax on the beach.
Other items that’s important to have is a phone charger and adapters or converters, especially if you’re traveling to places in Europe. There are so many out there that is made to be used in many different locations. If you have trouble looking for one, here’s a link!
First aid kit
It’s always a good idea to carry around first aid kit, no matter what kind of traveling you’re doing. You never know when someone is going to be in need of a Band-Aid or Neosporin. My favorite first aid kit to pack is called the ‘Mini Emergency Kit,’ which is filled with everything you might need from pain relievers, dental floss or a mini sewing kit!Plus, there is even one for him!

Sewing kit/stain removers
Having these items are essential if you plan on going to fancy events such as weddings, fashion shows or other types of parties. These are essential items are perfect for those that are as clumsy and messy as I am, or if you just want to be prepared for the worst.
Laundry bag
Keep your clean and dirty laundry separated – especially if you’re going on a trip that requires a lot of activity (sweat) or swimsuits. It’s important to keep these dirty clothes separated from your unworn, or nicer clothing to help preserve them for the rest of the trip.
Cosmetics (makeup/makeup wipes)
If you’re like me, packing makeup and makeup removal wipes will probably be one of the last things you think of. This is always a last-minute item to pack before heading off to the airport, though for some, it may be extremely important! So don’t forget to put your makeup in one of your last-minute carry on or duffle bags, unless you want to be stuck having to find makeup at your destination!
Leisure items (camera, journal, Go Pro, apps)
Some might say that their leisure items this makes their trip. Though we’re unsure if this comment is true, bringing electronics, journals or magazines can definitely enhance your vacation. If you’re the type of person to document every second of your vacation, having a camera or a journal is a must. These items are perfect for taking quick shots or jotting down small thoughts while shuffling through your trip. They can also be helpful if you’re considering on starting a blog after you return home!
Another tip is to make sure you have all necessary iPhone or Android applications researched and downloaded onto your smartphone or iPad. Knowing all of the available applications that are needed throughout your trip saves a lot of time and worry. You never know if you’re going to be in the middle of a city without a map, list of train times or that one coffee shop you saw on that one Instagram account.

We hope this list helps you remember some important items before leaving for your big trip. If not, thankfully there are tons of stores in the airport to get most of these things.
Happy traveling (and packing)! And as always, send us your thoughts/comments/suggestions on essential packing items!
